EPA Proposes $5.4 Million Dow Chemical Settlement for Cleanup

The Environmental Protection Agency has proposed a $5.4 million settlement with the Dow Chemical Co. to recover the cost of EPA’s cleanup at Tittabawassee River and Saginaw River and Bay Superfund site in Midland, Mich., according to EPA Thursday.

Historical operations at Dow’s Midland Plant allegedly caused toxic chemicals to release into the Tittabawassee River and mix with sediment in the Saginaw River and Bay, said the agency.

The proposed settlement costs include sample work completed at the site, negotiation of time critical and non-time critical removal orders, and negotiation of the 2010 Administrative Settlement Agreement and Order on Consent ...
