The EPA is overseeing a groundwater investigation for 1,4-dioxane west of the Industrial Excess Landfill Superfund site in Uniontown, Ohio, according to the agency Wednesday.
The potentially responsible parties are conducting the investigation due to the presence of the emerging contaminant dioxane in January samples from monitoring wells, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.
The EPA said it directed the PRPs to provide bottled water to impacted residents and initiate hookups to the municipal water supply based on data from April private well samples showing unacceptable levels of 1,4-dioxane.
