The EPA must enforce Obama-era limits on methane from landfills, and it has just a few months to get back on track, a federal district court judge ordered, dealing a victory to a group of states and environmental groups.
The Environmental Protection Agency must review, and approve or deny already-submitted state plans to implement the methane limits in the next four months, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California said in a May 6 order. The agency must also issue a federal plan within six months for states that didn’t write their own plans.
