EPA Must Challenge BP Refinery Operating Permit, Lawsuit Says

The EPA has failed to act on a petition to object to an operating permit for BP Products North America Inc.'s refinery in Indiana, environmental groups told a Washington, D.C., federal court Tuesday.

The Environmental Protection Agency’s delay prevents the groups from ensuring the Whiting refinery complies with the Clean Air Act, according to the complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. The court should force the agency to grant or deny the petition by Feb. 14, 2022, the lawsuit says.
