EPA Head Details Plans for New Environmental Justice Officials

EPA Administrator Michael Regan offered details Friday on his push to hire two senior leaders—including one that would need Senate approval—to improve the agency’s delivery of environmental justice programs and enforcement.

The new positions would help integrate EJ into all of the agency’s day-to-day activities, embedding it into the EPA’s regulations, policies, contracting, and procurement, Regan said. That step would match up with both Regan’s and President Joe Biden’s pledges to fix longstanding problems in disadvantaged communities.
