EPA Gets $2.1 Million in Deal Over PCB-Laden Ward Superfund Site

The federal government is getting another $2.1 million towards cleaning up the PCB-heavy Ward Transformer Superfund Site in Raleigh, N.C.

A settlement unveiled Friday will give the EPA a share of the money the Raleigh-Durham International Airport would have paid Ward Transformer for property it acquired for an expansion project. The deal stems from a condemnation lawsuit filed with the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
