EPA Drops One PFAS From List of Safer Chemical Ingredients

The EPA removed one PFAS and added nine other chemicals to an ingredients list that companies use to made cleaning, car care, floor stripping, and other products that may qualify for an agency pollution prevention program.

The updates to the “Safer Chemical Ingredients List” that the Environmental Protection Agency announced by email Thursday illustrate the agency’s ongoing effort—announced in its October 2021 PFAS Strategic Roadmap—to revisit past decisions about per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and “address those that are insufficiently protective.”
