EPA, DOJ Agree to Close Knoxville Utilities Board Consent Decree

The EPA and the Department of Justice filed a motion to terminate the consent decree with the Knoxville Utilities Board concerning a 2005 Clean Water Act settlement about the sewer system, according to the agency Tuesday.

KUB reported on Jan. 28 that all work under the amended consent decree, which focused on deficiencies at the Fourth Creek and Kuwahee wastewater treatment plants, had been completed. KUB completed the collection system goals of the original consent decree on Dec. 31, 2016, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.
