EPA Administrator Michael Regan pushed back Friday on a Republican critique that he is letting environmental justice guide policy decisions, saying his agency’s role in the issue is focused on providing technical help to communities.
At a House Appropriations subcommittee hearing, Rep. David Joyce (R-Ohio) asked Regan if environmental justice concerns are “always going to take precedence over the established zoning policies in most major cities, which seek to locate businesses in proximity to others of similar nature.” Joyce is the top Republican on the Interior and Environment panel that works on funding for the Environmental Protection Agency.
