The EPA is adding sites in Kansas, New Jersey, Montana, and Texas to its Superfund priority list and proposing to add more than a dozen others for its next round of cleanups.
The Cherokee Zinc-Weir Smelter in Wier, Kan; the Pioneer Metal Finishing Inc. site in Franklinville, N.J.; the Billings PCE site in Billings, Mont.; and the Northwest Odessa Groundwater site in Odessa, Texas, have joined the more than 100 federal sites on the Environmental Protection Agency’s National Priority List.
The total Superfund priority sites, including sites being cleaned up by states or private companies, is more than 1,300.
