Environmental Review of Los Angeles County Development Nixed

The California Supreme Court invalidated the environmental impact report done by state and federal officials for the 12,000-acre Newhall Ranch development project in north Los Angeles County (Ctr. for Biological Diversity v. Cal. Dep’t. of Fish & Wildlife, Calif., S217763, 11/30/15).

The court ruled the environmental review, prepared jointly by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (DFW), incorrectly concluded that greenhouse gas emissions from the development site would not significantly affect global climate.
