Entergy, NextEra Go It Alone After Nuclear Power Trade Group Exit

Entergy Corp. will use other ways to advocate for nuclear energy after it leaves the Nuclear Energy Institute, the largest U.S. nuclear power industry trade group, the company told Bloomberg Environment.

Entergy and NextEra Energy Inc., two major U.S. utilities operating nuclear power plants, won’t renew their memberships, effective Feb. 1. The move comes as the future of the nuclear power industry in the U.S. is uncertain. Nuclear power generation in the U.S. is expected to decline gradually as nuclear reactors are retired as they age without being replaced.
