Energy Regulator ‘Sympathetic’ on Perry’s Coal, Nuclear Plan

Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Chairman Neil Chatterjee said Oct. 13 he’s “sympathetic” to Energy Secretary Rick Perry’s proposal aiming to prop up coal and nuclear plants in certain competitive energy markets.

The commission has to examine the reliability and resilience attributes from generation sources that “are not appropriately being captured by our existing market structure,” Chatterjee told reporters in his first public comments since the Energy Department proposal was issued Sept. 28.
