Energy Agency Seeks to Roll Back Lightbulb Efficiency Standards

The Energy Department proposed to cut by nearly half the number of lightbulbs that would be subject to energy efficiency standards.

Efficiency groups and environmentalists said the move would cost consumers billions in lost energy savings and would reduce the number of lightbulbs that would have to be more energy efficient from 6 billion to approximately 3 billion.
