Enbridge Scores Victory in Michigan Pipeline Tunnel Lawsuit

Michigan regulators can’t renege on a deal allowing Enbridge Inc. to replace its aging Line 5 dual oil and gas line with a tunneled line under the Straits of Mackinac because the state committee approving the project was created lawfully, a Michigan court ruled Thursday.

A three-judge Court of Appeals panel rejected Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel’s (D) challenge to the Canadian oil giant’s $500 million tunnel project. Nessel is expected to appeal the ruling to the Michigan Supreme Court.
