Enbridge Inc. has a new ally in Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R), who is pressuring Michigan officials to keep open an oil and gas pipeline that runs across the bed of Lake Michigan.
In a letter sent this week and in a conversation at a recent governors’ conference, DeWine asked Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) to allow Enbridge’s 645-mile Line 5 pipeline to remain open while the state and company work on replacement options for the 66-year-old line.
