Egypt’s Power Grid Gets Major Boost as El-Sisi Lauds Reforms

Egypt’s president on July 24 lauded the inauguration of three Siemen’s-built power plants that give a major boost to the nation’s generating capacity, a rare piece of good news for a population that has struggled under the government’s economic reform program.

The plants built in the new administrative capital near Cairo, the coastal city of Burullus and Beni Suef on the Nile river have a combined capacity of 14.4 gigawatts.
