Edison International says some of its equipment was likely one of the triggers behind the second-largest wildfire in California history, which raged north of Los Angeles in December.
Edison expects “to incur a material loss” from the blaze, and its Southern California Edison unit’s $1 billion in wildfire-specific insurance coverage “may not be sufficient to cover all such damages” if it’s blamed for a significant portion of the destruction, according to an Oct. 30 regulatory filing.
