Earthquake-Shaken Dutch Wait for Guidance on How Much Gas to Cut

How do you keep 7 million households warm when calls are intensifying to cut off their natural gas supply?

That is the dilemma the Dutch government faces before a recommendation Feb. 1 from the nation’s mining regulator on how much further production from Europe’s biggest gas field should be cut considering earthquakes that are damaging houses and threatening lives. The non-binding advice, which only considers safety and not security of supply, will be hotly debated as the economy minister prepares to decide on output by end-March.
