DuPont, GE Get Partial Win in Suit Over Hudson River Cleanup

E.I. DuPont de Nemours and Co., General Electric Co. and others won’t have to face claims seeking recovery of costs incurred in the cleanup of contaminated Hudson River sediments, a federal court ruled.

They continue to face claims for contribution brought by BASF Corp., which seeks reimbursement for cleanup costs associated with a sewer line that ran through two properties and contributed to arsenic, lead, and other hazardous substances found in the sediments.

A 2017 consent order with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation required BASF to remediate Hudson River sediments near Rensselaer, N.Y.
