Disappearing Lakes Are Latest Bad News for Greenland Ice Sheet

Satellites orbiting 430 feet over Greenland’s interior are telling a story of disintegration. Long cracks formed on the surface of the Greenland ice sheet are linking miles and miles of meltwater-filled lakes and depressions.

Scientists already knew that Greenland’s ice sheet is melting as the climate warms, but a new study published in Nature indicates the process is actually speeding up.
