Bill Would Block Funds for Confederate-Named Bases (Corrected)

Military construction funding would be barred for installations named after Confederate officers in a House Democratic spending bill, a move that doubles down on a provision in the annual defense policy measure that would require officials to rename some military bases.

The House’s fiscal 2021 Military Construction-VA bill, released Sunday, would provide $115.5 billion in discretionary spending, a $5.1 billion increase from the fiscal 2020 level. The measure is set for a subcommittee markup Monday.
