Defense Bill Would Fund Cleanup of Drinking Water Contaminants

Hundreds of millions of dollars for cleaning up heat-resistant chemicals linked to cancer and other health problems near military bases around the country is included in a bill that was approved by a House committee June 13.

The House Armed Services Committee approved, in a 33-24 vote, the fiscal 2020 National Defense Authorization Act in the early morning hours of June 13 to allow $724.9 billion in discretionary spending for the Department of Defense.
