Daily Exposure to Bisphenol A Harmful, Landmark Studies Find (3)

Daily exposures to bisphenol A—a chemical whose uses range from lining food cans to coating paper receipts—can increase the risk of cancer and other diseases, an analysis of eight scientific studies revealed.

The findings, published Thursday, may further fuel efforts to regulate bisphenol A, also known as BPA. At least 13 states and the District of Columbia have placed restrictions on the chemical, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. It’s banned from baby bottles and toddler cups in Canada, Europe, and the U.S., and France has banned it in all food containers.
