Conservation Groups Appeal to Join Oil and Gas Leasing Dispute

The Center for Biological Diversity, the Sierra Club, and other conservation groups want a Louisiana federal court to reverse a magistrate judge’s decision and let them step into an oil and gas leasing dispute.

Industry challengers led by the American Petroleum Institute sued after the Biden administration implemented a pause on federal oil and gas leasing. The US District Court for the Western District of Louisiana blocked the federal government from continuing the pause in June 2021.
