Conservation Bill First Up After Recess, Senate Backers Say

Legislation that would fund a $900 million-a-year conservation program will be the first order of business when the Senate returns from recess March 23, backers of the bipartisan bill said Tuesday.

Sen. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.), who introduced the Great American Outdoors Act (S. 3422) Monday, said the package will be front and center following the March 16-20 break, pointing to Senate action Monday night that put the bill on the floor calendar. Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.), another bill backer, made the move to expedite it.
