Connecticut Aims to Bump Exxon Climate Case Back to State Court

Connecticut is calling on a federal judge to return the state’s climate lawsuit against Exxon Mobil Corp. to the state court where it was filed earlier this year.

Attorney General William Tong (D) argued Wednesday that the case belongs in Connecticut Superior Court, and that Exxon lawyers had no grounds to transfer it to the U.S. District Court of the District of Columbia. He launched the case in September, accusing Exxon of burying climate research and promoting misinformation, in violation of the state’s Unfair Trade Practices Act.
