Colorado River Law Must Adapt to Climate Change, Interior Says

The future won’t look like the past in the West, and that means the seven Colorado River Basin states are concerned about complying with a century-old law while adapting to climate change that is drying up the river.

Climate change and the Colorado River Compact were the subtext of discussions Thursday at the Colorado River Water Users Association conference in Las Vegas, where states are plotting ways to voluntarily cut water use before the Interior Department forces them to.
