Climate Spending to ‘Fix’ Infrastructure Bill Advances in Panel

A House panel approved about $57.3 billion in a bill that includes money for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in surface transportation and building out transit and high-speed rail.

The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee voted along party lines, 37-29, Wednesday to advance the bill that would make greener investments in surface transportation and aviation. The measure is part of the Democrats’ sweeping social spending package that could cost as much as $3.5 trillion.
