Clean Energy in India Could Lose Momentum Without Grid Growth

India’s growing renewable capacity is outpacing the grid, which may spook investors and ultimately slow the development of its clean energy sector, according to new analysis by the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis.

“Over the past six months we’ve seen an array of new problems within the renewable energy sphere in India,” report co-author Kashish Shah said. “Prices have gone up, and many investors have found that there is not enough evacuation capacity,” which refers to the ability to move power generated by a particular solar or wind power plant to the grid for distribution.
