Chemours, DuPont Must Test One PFAS, EPA Says in First Order (2)

The EPA ordered Chemours Co., DuPont De Nemours Inc., National Foam Inc., and Johnson Controls Inc. on Monday to test one PFAS used to make commercial fire-fighting foams and found in some floor finishes.

The Environmental Protection Agency ordered the companies to conduct quick, simple tests that show how one PFAS—6:2 fluorotelomer sulfonamide betaine—moves in the environment, whether it metabolizes, and if it could be harmful. The tests will determine whether more detailed studies are warranted, according to the test order and National PFAS Testing Strategy the agency released last year.
