Chemical Makers Get Marching Orders for Reporting Data to EPA (1)

The EPA on Tuesday released a final rule detailing chemical function and other data manufacturers and importers must provide to the agency later this year.

Companies also will get an extra two months to prepare and submit their reports, as the Environmental Protection Agency on Tuesday extended its deadline to Nov. 30.

The agency’s final chemical data reporting rule (RIN: 2070-AK33) heeded concerns from chemical manufacturers by phasing in requirements that they use a different system of codes to submit information about a chemical’s industrial function, or its purpose in commercial or consumer products.
