California’s Newsom Signs Wildfire Response Bills (2)

California will create a wildfire forecasting unit and mobile service providers will be barred from slowing data service to emergency responders during emergencies in the Golden State under bills signed Oct. 2 by Gov. Gavin Newsom (D).

Newsom signed nearly two dozen bills aimed at fighting and responding to wildfires, which have become an increasing and ever-present deadly reality in the Golden State.

The bills are on top of $1 billion included in the state’s most-recent budget to invest in wildfire response, mitigation, and safety.
