California ‘Forever Chemical’ Compostables Ban Advances (1)

Compostable plastic products couldn’t be sold in California if they contain per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), under a bill the state Assembly approved Friday.

In addition to the PFAS ban, AB 1201 would prohibit sales of plastic products labeled “compostable,” “home compostable,” or “soil biodegradable “ unless they meet certain standards set by the state Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery.
