California Landfill to Pay $225,000 to Settle Pollution Suit

Operators of the West Contra Costa Sanitary Landfill will to pay $225,000 and implement stormwater pollution prevention measures to settle a lawsuit over releases from the site in Richmond, Calif., according to a filing in a federal court in the state.

The California Sportfishing Protection Alliance said in its Clean Water Act lawsuit that the landfill consistently released water that contained high levels of iron, aluminum, and a high pH.
