California Cities Urge Justices to Ditch Chevron Climate Case

The U.S. Supreme Court should reject attempts by Chevron Corp. and other oil industry giants to push another climate case before the justices, lawyers for two California cities said.

“Contrary to petitioners’ mischaracterizations of the complaints and California law, the People seek neither to regulate emissions nor to set climate change policy, but simply to hold petitioners liable for conducting deceptive marketing tactics while knowingly misrepresenting the dangers of their products,” lawyers for Oakland and San Francisco said in a brief filed Monday.
