Bureau Illegally Killing Hundreds of Bull Trout, Lawsuit Says

The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation’s irrigation project near Glacier National Park in Montana is killing hundreds of threatened bull trout each year in violation of the Endangered Species Act, an environmental group says in a new federal lawsuit.

The agency doesn’t have an incidental take permit as required under the ESA for the fish killed by its St. Mary Diversion Dam and Canal and Sherburne Dam operations, according to the lawsuit filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana.
