Millions of gallons of waste is flowing from the Tijuana River into the Pacific Ocean, releasing untreated sewage, pesticides, trash, and heavy metals into waterways in violation of the Clean Water Act, according to a new lawsuit filed in federal district court.
The waste “degrades California’s water quality, pollutes California’s beaches and shoreline, harms the unique natural environment of the area, and endangers public health,” San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board said in a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.
