BLM Challenges Court’s Oil and Gas Ruling for Sage-Grouse Land

The Trump administration is pushing to overturn a court ruling that scrapped recent oil and gas lease sales and blocked the Bureau of Land Management from streamlining development in sage-grouse territory.

Government lawyers gave notice Tuesday that they intend to pursue an appeal of the Feb. 27 decision from the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho. The case will go to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

The greater sage grouse lives in parts of the western U.S. and Canada.
