Bipartisan States Urge Justices to Ditch Mississippi Water Claim

A bipartisan group of state officials is calling on the U.S. Supreme Court to reject Mississippi’s unique attempt to get neighboring Tennessee to pay up for alleged groundwater theft.

“If allowed to proceed, this new mechanism would inject dangerous uncertainty into established systems of natural resource management on which communities and economies depend,” Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser (D) told the court on behalf of eight states.
