Willie L. Phillips, Jr., pledged to balance sustainability and affordability amid the Biden administration’s push to promote clean energy if he’s confirmed to be a potentially deciding vote at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, he told Congress Tuesday.
“My approach would be to seek balance in everything that we do,” he said during a confirmation hearing before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. “I believe in an all-of-the-above strategy. I know FERC is an economic regulator—they do not pick winners and losers.”
