Biden Budget Proposes 15% Boost to DOE’s Clean Power Mission (1)

The Biden administration wants to fund the Energy Department at $48.2 billion in fiscal year 2023—an increase of 15%, or $6.3 billion, from 2021 enacted levels—as the agency aims to roll out clean power projects and electric grid research to meet President Joe Biden’s mid-century climate goals.

The White House budget request unveiled Monday includes a proposed 33% boost, to a total of $9.2 billion, for clean energy research, development, and demonstration projects. The increases are compared to the fiscal 2021 spending level, which agencies were operating under with some adjustments until passage of this month’s fiscal 2022 spending law. ...
