Baltimore Group Seeks $4.8 Million for Superfund Dump Cleanup

7-Eleven Inc., Chiquita Brands LLC, Unilever United States Inc. and about 150 other companies are facing a new lawsuit from a Baltimore work group seeking to recover $4.8 million in cleanup costs for a Superfund site.

The 68th Street Site Work Group sued the companies in U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland on Friday for generating or transporting hazardous substances to the 68th Street Dump in Baltimore. The group is seeking the reimbursement of past cleanup costs as well as future cleanup costs for the Superfund site.
