Auto, Battery Makers Seen as Too Complacent on Lithium Supply

Global electric vehicle and battery makers are not taking the challenges around long-term lithium supply seriously enough, according to one leading producer, warning their complacency may come back to bite them.

“Engagement with that end of the industry has typically been really, really poor,” Ken Brinsden, chief executive officer at Pilbara Minerals Ltd., told a Credit Suisse Group AG energy conference this week. “It speaks to them being too ambivalent about what’s going to be required upstream to ultimately backfill the supply chain.”
