Army Corps Lays Out Pebble Mine Environmental Impacts (1)

The Army Corps of Engineers issued Feb. 20 its long-awaited draft environmental impact statement for the Pebble Mine that environmental groups and Alaska natives say takes an extraordinarily narrow view of the mine’s impacts.

But the Corps has repeatedly said its process is robust, thorough, and transparent for the mine, a sprawling proposed gold and copper project.

Tom Collier, CEO of Pebble Limited Partnership, said the company’s preliminary review of the draft document “shows no major data gaps or substantive impacts associated with a mine at the Pebble site.”
