Amazon Prime Day Friendlier to Wallets Than Environment (1)

Amazon.com Inc.'s “Prime Day” on July 16 and 17 may mean a good deal for your wallet—but it’s no deal for the environment or climate.

Offering deep discounts and fast shipping on items for its 100 million Prime members, the company racked up more than $1 billion in sales on Prime Day in 2017, making it one of the year’s biggest shopping days.

A $119 annual Prime membership comes with free two-day shipping and other discounts, and groceries and other items can be delivered within two hours in some cities.
