The Alpine region wants to become a “living laboratory” for the green economy in Europe, according to a new plan from regional officials.
“Our vision is to put the Green Economy at the center of a development model that reconciles quality of life, environmental protection, and economic growth,” said Raffaele Cattaneo, Minister for the Environment and Climate in Lombardy, Italy.
As of Feb. 28, Lombardy is coordinating the Italian presidency of the EU Strategy for the Alpine Region. The “macroregion” is home to about 80 million people and extends across 48 regions in seven countries.
