Rep. Kathy Castor’s (D-Fla.) commitment to environmental protection started early.

As a child, she looked up to her mother, Florida politician and onetime Democratic Senate candidate Betty Castor, as a role model for environmental advocacy around protecting Tampa Bay.

“My mother was sort of the trailbrazing female public servant in Tampa,” Castor told Bloomberg Environment. "[I was] a little girl, 6, 7 years old watching this.”
