Alaskan Land Exchange for Road Draws Suit After Setback (1)

A second attempt at a land exchange so an Alaska town can build a single-lane road through the Izembek Wilderness is the subject of a new lawsuit filed Aug. 7 in federal court.

A federal judge threw out a prior version of the land swap in March. Interior Secretary David Bernhardt signed off on a new exchange with King Cove, Alaska, in July and withdrew the appeal of the earlier decision, according to the complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska.
