Alaska Joins Lawsuit to Support ConocoPhillips Drilling Approval

Alaska can intervene to defend the federal government’s approval of a ConocoPhillips Alaska Inc. oil and gas development project in the state, a federal court ruled.

The revenue from the Willow Master Development Plan for the project in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska could “potentially generate billions of dollars to the state from direct payments associated with federal oil and gas leasing in the area,” the state told the U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska.
